NEW POLICY
All courses expiring on December 31st must be submitted to NASBLA no later than October 1st of that year in order to allow ample time to review the course prior to its expiration. Although this does not guarantee that the course review process will be complete by the expiration date, it will allow enough time for the initial review to be completed. Only courses submitted by the October 1st deadline will be given extensions on their approval date if the course review is not able to be completed by the end of the calendar year. Courses that are received by NASBLA after October 1st will be reviewed after all other courses received prior to October 1st. If a review can not be completed before the end of the time period, the approval of courses received after October 1st will expire on December 31st, without exception.

NASBLA Successul Instructional Strategies for Face-to-Face Boating Safety Course Instructors
This document’s purpose is to provide a resource to the boating safety education community. The NASBLA Education & Awareness Committee recognizes the broad diversity of boating safety education courses, instructors and settings and wishes to encourage innovation and creativity while also communicating the successful instructional strategies gained from many boating safety educators with years of teaching experience. This list of successful strategies is not intended to be a complete list of all teaching practices nor will using these strategies guarantee an excellent course experience. Teaching is an ever-changing series of choices made by an instructor taking into account many considerations including: the instructor, the students, the content, the location, the instructional materials, organizational context and other factors. The NASBLA Education & Awareness Committee is committed to the continuous improvement of boating safety education in order to improve the learning experience for students in all NASBLA-approved courses. Additional ideas and strategies are welcomed and will be added on a periodic basis by the NASBLA Education & Awareness Committee.
