Executive Board

The National Association of State Boating Law Administrators (NASBLA) is a nonprofit, 501(c)(3) professional association representing the recreational boating authorities of all 50 states and the U.S. territories including Guam, American Samoa, the Northern Mariana Islands, Puerto Rico, the U.S. Virgin Islands and the District of Columbia. The association's primary members consists of the lead officials having responsibility for administering the state’s boating program or enforcing the state’s boating laws and are referred to as the state’s “Boating Law Administrator” or “BLA.”

NASBLA is governed by an Executive Board consisting of the president, vice, president, treasurer, three members-at-large and the immediate past president. Each member is passionate about boating safety and is using his term in office as an opportunity to help further NASBLA's mission in support of safe and enjoyable boating. Although the executive board is not a NASBLA committee per se, in terms of public policy development, it serves as the governing body of the organization and as such it recommends and executes the policy positions adopted by the membership.

Executive Board Committees

NASBLA has four Executive Board committees including governance, audit and finance, resource development and nominations. Board committees report to the board and help carry out its mandate. The board committees are used by the Executive Board to ensure consistency and regularity in key board practices and proper board performance. Task forces and ad hoc committees may be formed by the Executive Board on an as-needed basis to carry out specific objectives within a specified timeframe. The functions duties and responsibilities these standing board committees are outlined in the following pages.
